Each album cover has to represent the artist and what genre their music is. The first cover I am going to analyse is The Saturdays'. The genre of music of The Saturdays is Pop, and so because it's pop they don't cater to a wide audience, whereas groups that are indie-pop or indie-rock do. I really like this album cover as I think the brightly coloured dresses look really good on the grey/white background. This makes each band member stand out and shows they are unique. Many of the girls are not using direct address, so they aren't looking out at the audience, this kind of gives the idea that they aren't really bothered. This does not have a bigger appeal than an image that uses direct address. The album cover does show the genre of the music. This is done by the colours and font used. For example, the colours aren't just limited to one or two, its a number of different colours so this is showing they aren't rock etc as if they were the colours would probably be red and black or green etc. The font is also good, as this doesn't look like the type of font a rock/indie magazine uses, its cool and 'funky'.
Analysis of band images.
